Queensland Flood Crisis

 

South East Queensland, Australia has been affected by major floods between 11 to 13 January 2011. It is Queenslands's worst natural disaster to date. In Brisbane, Queensland's capital city, more than 26,000 homes & 3,000 businesses have been flooded.

About 4,000 people are in in evacuation centres across the state. The death toll stands at 16. The search continues for dozens of people still missing in Queensland's flood crisis. 

The massive clean up, reconstruction & rebuilding in the flooded areas will take many months. It could take weeks to have flooded homes assessed prior to getting power returned, due to the shortage of electricians.
